Ozark Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer with Spruce Top

The Ozark Appalachian dulcimer has an attractive hourglass shape with 4 'F' sound holes. This is a quality instrument with a spruce laminated top and maple laminated back, sides, fingerboard and peghead. Tuning is made easy with individual open machine heads. This traditional instrument is used in many styles of music. It has four strings - double melody and two single course strings. There are many alternative tunings; we suggest (1st) DD-G-D (3rd) N.B. Treble (1st) is towards player


  • The Appalachian or mountain dulcimer, is a fretted folk zither that is indigenous to the Appalachia and Ohio River Valley areas of the United States.
  • Total beginners can make music almost instantly, as there are no wrong notes! Just pick out a tune on the melody string while the 2 drone strings proved a chordal accompaniment.
  • The dulcimer is not just for novices. In the hands of an experienced player it becomes a powerful and expressive instrument whose unique voice has a place in just about any kind of music.
